Accomodation

Kènes International has obtained special accommodation rates for congress participants. Detailed information, a wide variety of hotels, and the online booking system is available. Sales will start in September 2018.

Navigate through the entire 29th ECCMID programme and all important information on your mobile phone or tablet. View sessions by day and category, and access the abstracts being presented. Create your individual scientific schedule and save it to your calendar. Locate all session rooms and your favourite exhibitors on the floor plans. Get in contact with your colleagues via the integrated chat tool and comment on all sessions and presentations.

Badges

All participants and exhibitors are required to wear their badges throughout the congress. Access to the scientific sessions will only be possible with your personal name badge. We charge EUR 50 for replacement of a lost badge. For any name change, we charge a fee of EUR 50.

Bank/ATM

Banks are usually open from 09:00-17:30 (Monday-Friday) and ATM services are available 24/7 across the City of Amsterdam. At the airport, main train stations and along the main streets currency exchange services are available for your convenience.

Cameras and recordings

Any kind of electronic recording, as well as photography, is prohibited in all lecture halls during all sessions.

Certificates

Certificates of attendance (not including CME credits) are available from Monday morning, April 15 2019. They can be printed at the print stations in the registration area, using the barcode on your name badge.

Climate

April is a wonderful month to visit Amsterdam; tulips bloom everywhere and you are able to enjoy the 14 hours of daylight each day. April is also the second-driest month - after February - but considerably warmer!

Cloakroom / Luggage storage

A cloakroom will be available near the registration area free of charge.
Complimentary luggage storage can be found in Hall 9.

CME accreditation

For your ECCMID attendance, you will receive credits from the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) Institution of the UEMS. The number of credits will be communicated before the congress.

Congress registration

Upon receipt of the correct registration fee, each participant has received a confirmation of registration by email. Please bring your registration confirmation with the barcode and go directly to the badge self-print stations in the registration area of the congress centre.

Delegates who are booked through a group registration will receive the information on how their badge and congress material will be distributed through their group coordinator.

A congress bag including all documents (final programme, lanyard etc.) will be distributed to registered participants during the following opening hours:

The same opening hours will apply for onsite registrations. It cannot be guaranteed that onsite registrants will receive all congress documents.

For a new congress registration please follow the signs to “New Registration” within the registration area. You may pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex). Cash payments in Euro will only be accepted at the secretariat.

Currency

All official prices are indicated in Euro (EUR, €), the official currency of the Netherlands. All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.

Dining out in Amsterdam and tipping

In Amsterdam, restaurants typically serve lunch between 12:00 – 14:00. Dinner is usually enjoyed between 19:00 – 21:00, reservations are highly recommended.
If satisfied with the service, a gratuity of 10% of the entire bill is recommended.

Electricity supply

In Amsterdam, plugs and sockets have two round pins, following European standard. 220V/230V/50Hz.

Emergency

In the event of an emergency, dialling 112 from any phone will connect you to the emergency services (police, fire or ambulance).

Pipeline Corner


ePoster photo booth

For the third year we have the ePoster photo booth. It allows poster authors and other ECCMID participants to take digital selfies with their posters or a pre-selected image in the background. You can send the pictures to any email address as a souvenir of ECCMID 2019. The process of taking an ePoster selfie is very straightforward: just enter your personal information in the terminal provided, set the timer and position yourself in front of the green screen to have the picture taken. Once you are done, enter an email address and press send. Our onsite staff will help you.

ESCMID Manual

The ESCMID-SFM Manual of Clinical Microbiology is a jointly produced hard-copy publication by ESCMID and SFM. In 2010 a popular French Manual of Microbiology was published by SFM. The new manual is based upon the original French manual, but has been updated and adapted for Europe. There are 52 chapters covering essential information in clinical microbiology. The launch of the Manual was at the ECCMID 2012 in London. On site, the manual is available for purchase from the ESCMID Booth.

The cost for Individual copies purchased online is EUR 30 and it may be acquired via info@escmid.org

ESCMID Networking Corner (ENC)

The ESCMID Networking Corner is near the ESCMID Booth.

ESCMID Study Groups, ESCMID Collaborative Centres and infection networks and projects provide information on posters about their various initiatives. Learn more about these activities and meet representatives of these groups.

ESCMID booth

During the congress, ESCMID staff will welcome you and be happy to answer your questions at their booth located in Hall 2 of the RAI.

Exhibition

A commercial and industrial exhibition will take place within the framework of the congress. If you are a commercial representative, and wish to view more information on available exhibition space at ECCMID 2019, please contact , Industry Liaison.

First Aid

The First Aid room is located by the Speaker Ready Room. In case of any emergency, get in touch with the nearest ECCMID staff member.

How to Reach the Congress Venue by Public Transportation

Tram: You will find a tram stop right outside the venue. Tram line 4 takes you directly to the central station.


Metro: The new metro line 52 has opened and will take you in 7 - 9 minutes from the RAI venue to Amsterdam central station. The metro station is located on the square in front of the RAI and is called: Europaplein. This metro also takes you to the famous neighborhood De pijp and stops at Dam square (metro stop: Rokin). The RAI also has its own metro station.
Amsterdam metro line 51 will take you to the central station and downtown Amsterdam as well.


Taxi: For visitors who want to take a taxi to the RAI Amsterdam Congress Center, journey times and prices are found below:

From Shiphol Airport: A taxi from the airport will cost €30-35 and take around 15 – 20 minutes for the 14 kilometers.
From the city center: A taxi from the centre will cost €15-25, take around 15 – 30 minutes for the 6 kilometers


Car: Right next to the A10 ring road, RAI Amsterdam is easily accessible by car. The RAI also provides up to 5,000 parking spaces: Parking costs €4.00 per hour, to a maximum of €24.00 per day. Parking tickets can be purchased beforehand via the RAI Website.


Train: From Schiphol airport the sprinter trains take you directly to Amsterdam RAI station in only 10 minutes. Check the overhead boards at Schiphol station to ensure your train stops at Amsterdam RAI. You should not take a train to Amsterdam Central which goes via another route. The station is 300 metres from the Convention Center.

Free WiFi will be available throughout the congress venue. No user name and password are needed, the network name is ECCMID 2019.

Lactation Room

A Lactation Room is located in the basement of the Elicium, next to the prayer room.

Hygiene supplies are provided for expressing mothers.

Please note that children are not permitted in any session halls, exhibition areas or adjoining spaces at ECCMID.

Language

The official language of the congress is English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.

Liability and Insurance

The organizer is not able to take any responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage involving persons and property during the congress. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

Lost and Found Information

Items that are found at the event will be collected by the ECCMID staff and will be kept at the Registrations Service Desk. Should you lose or find any personal belongings, we kindly ask you to visit this desk to report or collect the items.

Lunch and Refreshments

At ECCMID 2019 meals are not included in the Individual congress registration package. Throughout the venue Lunch and Refreshment services are available in several Catering Area located in the Exhibition Hall.

Meeting boxes

In the exhibition hall, ESCMID provides meeting space. The meeting boxes can be used free of charge and will be bookable onsite. Each meeting shall not last longer than one hour. Please visit the reception desk for further information.

Official Letter of Invitation

The organizers will be pleased to send a letter of invitation to any individual requesting one, once their registration and fee have been received. It is to be understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential participants raise travel funds or obtain a visa. It is not a commitment on the part of the congress to provide any financial support. You may request such a letter during the online registration or from the Congress Registration Department at

Parking

Parking costs € 4,00 per hour with a maximum of € 24,00 per day. Parking tickets can be purchased beforehand via the RAI Website and then they are € 21,00

Pipeline Corner

For the fourth time, ECCMID will host a Pipeline Corner. SMEs from Europe and overseas will present their research projects and product pipeline. In the Pipeline Corner, located in the exhibition hall, participating companies and organisations display their posters. The pipeline talks will take place on Monday, 23 April 2018 from 12:30 – 14:30 in Hall Y.

Press Centre

Press registration is complimentary and includes all privileges of regular registration. Members of the press who qualify for press registration and who have been pre-registered may contact the onsite registration at the congress venue to get their press badge.

Only journalists or reporters, writers or editors with credentials from a journal, newspaper, magazine, radio or TV station, wire service, or other news organization can be accredited.

Freelancers must present proof from a news organization that assigned them to cover the meeting. Freelancers wishing to cover ECCMID on a speculative basis are asked to request accreditation in writing using their letterhead.

Public Transportation

A 72-hour GVB travel pass is provided to each full congress registrant. The pass is valid on all GVB-run Busses, trains and trams in Amsterdam, and is activate for 72 hours from the first use

Publication – ESCMID eLibrary

All accepted abstracts, electronic versions of posters as well as presentations are published in the ESCMID eLibrary. There is no printed abstract book or CD available. In addition, many sessions will be recorded and made available to congress participants. All on-site material will be available at the ECCMID live terminals located in the ESCMID World and online at www.eccmidlive.org. You can access the eLibrary at www.escmid.org/eLibrary

Printing and computer services are available next to the ESCMID Booth.

Participants are requested to check with the Dutch consulate in their home country or with their travel agency for visa requirements. As part of the European Union, for some countries a Schengen Visum is required.
